Theatre Workshop at Christ College

Script Peoples Theatre in association with Christ College is proud to announce the launch of the Playback Theatre Workshop at Christ College. This 60 hour workshop is an experience by itself as it trains participants in the nuances of Playback Theatre. This is a highly energetic improvisational form that requires participants to ‘think on their feet’ and to present an oral narrative in split seconds without prior discussion and with the aid of teamwork.

The Playback Experience has been unique in the sense that over the last 5 years since we have launched it in Bangalore, people from a wide spectrum of professions have indulged in it. Chefs have been a part of the experience to become better chefs, managers to become more effective in their jobs, software professionals to develop better communication skills, and to beat stress. Playback Theatre is a paradigm shift..something like bungee jumping. Once you do it, you never forget it.

This workshop is a certificate workshop and it is provided by Christ College (Autonomous) on completion. It is held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at the college premises. Mondays and Wednesdays (6.15 a.m to 8.30 a.m) and Saturdays (2.00p.m.-5.00p.m.). Script Peoples Theatre is the only Indian theatre group to be affiliated to the International Playback Theatre Network (IPTN) which has a footprint in 50 countries.

For students of Christ College studying in the 3 rd semester, participating in Playback Theatre entitles them to 3 credits in their academics. Truly, a great reward while pursuing theatre when you are studying!

The workshop is priced at Rs.6000/=. For more information call 98450 75825 or email tie@theatrecapital.com or just drop in to the Theatre-in-Education office of the New Auditorium Block, 3rd Floor Christ College, Hosur Road, Bangalore – 29.

Shoestring Theatre Workshop

It’s the summer vacations once again and some of us are in the mood to do some slipping and sliding. Only it’s too darn hot to be outdoors kicking or bouncing a ball. So what would you say to kicking and bouncing a ball indoors? And that too… (drum roll) an imaginary one?

shoestring theatre group will be conducting workshops in the month of May for all young theatre enthusiasts in the age group of 15 to 21.

These workshops will focus on acting and staging and will be held on two consecutive weekends, the 13th and 14th of May and the 20th and 21st of May.

Enrollment will be on a first-cum-first-serve basis.

Entry fee for these 4 sessions will be Rs. 500. (We do not accept cheques or credit cards.)

The workshops will be held at the Bosco Hall, St. Andrews Church, Bandra.

About:  shoestring is a group of young theatre professionals brought together by a common view of the theatre as a visceral experience created by a union of the formal and thematic elements. In other words, ours is a theatre where the stagecraft is as integral to a production as the literary elements.

shoestring’s theatre workshops reflect our interest in a self-conscious theatre that is based above all, upon an understanding of the craft of the theatre. These workshops, informed by our abiding commitment to the craft of the theatre – spatial movement, physical action and creation of dynamic spaces – promise to create a unique experience for participants.
